Dr. Hyoun-A Joo presents her research on German second language acquisition among South Koreans who came to (former West) Germany in the 1970s as immigrant workers. The focus of her research was the acquistion of the German clause structure, and the results suggest that the clausal structure initially develops in an incremental fashion and is refined by feature mapping onto lexical items once the clausal structure is acquired.

Hyoun-A Joo is a GLACT Postdoctoral Fellow in the School of Modern Languages at Georgia Tech. She received her PhD in German Applied Linguistics and Language Science from Penn State in 2018. Her research area includes L2 acquisition, syntax and linguistic theory.
