The holdings of the National Archives at Atlanta include approximately 45,000 cubic feet of federal district and circuit court records dating from the 1790s to the early 1990s.  These records document both federal civil and criminal law within the states of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.  This year’s symposium, Law and Order in the Archives: Bootleggers, Counterfeiters, Privateers, and Everything in Between encourages research in these diverse records, features scholars whose published works were based on these holdings, and promotes the discovery of new scholars from universities and colleges across the Southeast and the nation.
