Where did you attend school?

I went to Georgia Highlands College and the University of West Georgia.

How long have you been a staff member at Georgia Tech?

I've been with Stamps Health Services (SHS) for over 16 years. I started this month on July 8, 2002.

Why did you decide to pursue a career in healthcare?

My mother is a nurse (as is my oldest daughter) so the medical field was of interest early on and by fate, I was hired on by a physical therapy group thus beginning my career in medical billing, coding, payment posting and assisted the therapists with patient care.

What do you love most about your job?

Knowing I have helped and made a difference in a student’s life by taking the time to help them through the confusing and frustrating world of insurance!

How have you seen SHS evolve throughout your time here?

I have seen it grow in many different areas for the students. I've made sure to keep the main objective of the student’s needs as the top priority during the growth.

What have you learned from the people you work with at SHS?

The ability to work in difficult and stressful situations.

What does your day to day look like?

I process insurance claims, meet with students and parents with various insurance inquiries, answer phone calls, post insurance payments to name just a few. Every day is different from the next so my days are never boring!

What do you like to do when you are not at SHS?

I have two children in the high school band and one child in gymnastics so I enjoy watching them compete in band and gymnastic competitions.
