The Georgia Tech-Georgia rivalry has been long established, even in the world of hockey, but 2018 will mark the first time the two teams have ever played in Infinite Energy Center in Duluth, Georgia.
The Yellow Jackets and UGA Hockey will play on October 20, 2018, as part of a double header with the Atlanta Gladiators hosting the Orlando Solar Bears. The Gladiators and Solar Bears both play mid-level professional hockey in the ECHL.
The Yellow Jackets are coming off one of their best seasons in program history with a 18-9-1 record and an appearance in the Division III American Collegiate Hockey Association national tournament. The Yellow Jackets also won the 2018 Scholar Shootout and the 2018 ACC-South Challenge.
Losing just two of their regular starters, the Jackets look to build upon last year’s success behind team captain Michael Brzozowski, and alternates, Kevin Polak, Matt Jones, and Karl Risley. There was a combined 113 points between these four players, so the GT boys certainly have some leader figures to follow on and off the ice.
This game will mark the second meeting of the season between the two rivals.
