Neha KumarNeha Kumar, assistant professor in The Sam Nunn School of International Affairs presented a paper at the ACM DIS (Association for Computing Machinery Designing Interactive Systems) 2018 conference in Hong Kong. The paper was co-authored with Marisol Wong-Villacres, Ph.D. student in the College of Computing. The paper presented an in-depth multi-sited ethnographic study of low-resource learning environments across India, making a methodological contribution towards technology design for intersectionally diverse contexts.
On June 21, Kumar also co-organized the first annual ACM COMPASS (Computing and Sustainable Society) 2018 conference in Menlo Park, California, with Ellen Zegura professor in the College of Computing. At the conference, she presented a paper titled Knowledge, Access, and Decision-Making: Women’s Financial Inclusion in Pakistan. The paper was co-authored with researchers at the University of Washington and the Information Technology University in Pakistan. The paper analyzes the gender barriers that prohibits the readiness for and the adoption of Digital Financial Services in resource-constrained economies.
