ANAK, one of the oldest honor societies at Georgia Tech, has issued an open call for applications for its most prestigious award: the George Wingfield Semmes Memorial Scholarship. Until Friday, September 3, undergraduate students in the College of Engineering may submit for up to $14,000 in scholarship money.
Endowed in 1994, the scholarship is intended to reward those students who excel in academics, accept leadership positions and demonstrate a passion for Georgia Tech. Semmes graduated in 1910 with a degree in mechanical engineering and was one of the first presidents of ANAK.
Basic criteria for selection are: a full-time or co-op undergraduate engineering student, junior or senior in standing, with a minimum 3.0 grade point average who is not graduating within the year.
Update: Please be aware that the Semmes Memorial Scholarship applications will still be due on Friday September 3, but the recommendation form deadline has been extended to Tuesday, September 7.
