Peterson Receives Honorary Degree from Kansas StateGeorgia Tech President G.P. “Bud” Peterson received an honorary doctorate of philosophy from his alma mater, Kansas State University, during the graduate school commencement ceremony in Bramlage Coliseum on KSU's Manhattan, Kansas, campus May 11.
He also served as speaker for the graduate commencement ceremony. Kansas State’s Communications and Marketing team produced a video introduction highlighting Peterson’s time on the Kansas State campus as a first-generation college student and student athlete, along with his career, community, family, and national leadership accomplishments.
Peterson earned his B.S. in mechanical engineering in 1975, a B.S. in mathematics in 1977, and his M.S. in engineering in 1980, all from Kansas State University. He earned his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Texas A&M University in 1985.
