Horizons Atlanta at Georgia Tech is participating in Horizons Giving Day, a national effort on May 16 with a single goal: to raise more than 1 million dollars to expand existing Horizons programs and bring Horizons to more communities and families nationwide. Horizons Atlanta at Georgia Tech will engage in a competitive, yet friendly, race to raise funds online and in person with more than 50 Horizons programs nationwide. All funds raised online by Horizons Atlanta at Georgia Tech will go to support the growth of the Georgia Tech program.

Horizons is a transformational, community-centered education program working to close the opportunity gap for under-served children in kindergarten through 12th grade. Horizons includes six weeks of academics, arts, sports, and more each summer through partnerships with independent schools, colleges, and universities across the nation. Horizons students gain 8-12 weeks of reading and math skills each summer; 97% of Horizons high school students graduate on time, and 91% go on to attend college.

Horizons Atlanta at Georgia Tech is a year-round program designed to help students close the opportunity gap and find success in school. The program also prevents the summer slide and assists students with setting and achieving goals for themselves including high school graduation and participation in post-secondary educational experiences. The program at Georgia Tech focuses on areas such as coding, living a healthy lifestyle, writing, and hands-on STEM learning. All Horizons students learn to swim at the Aquatic Center at Georgia Tech.

In conjunction with the on-campus summer activities, Horizons continues supporting the students throughout the school year with an after-school component and a high school mentoring program. The program at Georgia Tech will serve more than 150 students in the Atlanta area this year.

The success of Horizons Giving Day Campaign depends on the support of the community.
