Summaries

Summary Sentence: Welcoming freshmen and transfer students to Georgia Tech's community of learners

Full Summary: New Student Convocation is an event to welcome new students — freshmen and transfers — to Georgia Tech's community of learners.

New Student Convocation is an event to welcome new students — freshmen and transfers — to Georgia Tech's community of learners, celebrating enthusiasm for learning and discovery in achieving the university's mission of teaching, research, and service. Convocation will be a memorable and exciting start for Georgia Tech's newest undergraduate students.

Transportation
Shuttles will be available to take students from their residence halls to Alexander Memorial Coliseum. Students may also walk to the Coliseum. Freshman students will meet with their Freshman Experience (FE) peer leader and will travel as a group. Transfer students and Freshman who are not in the Freshman Experience may also take the chartered shuttles. Shuttles will be available to pick-up students at Field Residence Hall (East Campus) and Fitten Residence Hall ( West Campus) starting at 3:30 p.m.

Immediately Following Convocation
Students are invited to attend a special party sponsored by Auxiliary Services — the 18th Annual Caribbean Party — celebrating their first night as a Georgia Tech college student. It will be held in the Student Center, and students may take a shuttle or walk over there after the Convocation ceremony. This is a free event for new students.
