School of Public and International Affairs, University of Georgia (UGA). Prior to his appointment at UGA, Auer served as Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Faculty at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine. Prior to Bates, Auer was Dean of the Hutton Honors College at Indiana University (IU) and Professor of International Environmental Affairs at the School of Public and Environmental Affairs at IU.

Auer has authored or co-authored more than 50 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on environmental, energy, and foreign aid policy. Auer has had policy roles in a variety of US and foreign agencies and organizations.

Matt received his Ph.D. in forestry and environmental studies from Yale, a master’s of law and diplomacy from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University, and an A.B. in anthropology from Harvard University (1988).
