This workshop will help students better understand colonialism, imperialism, and migration from the perspective of the Asian and Pacific Islander victims of colonization. It will cover topics including the idea of "the Orient," U.S. foreign and economic policy that drove colonialism and imperialism, as well as modern day instances. We will also be going over successful historical examples and means of decolonization.
This event is part of Asian American Pacific Islander month, hosted by the Asian American Student Association at Georgia Tech. AAPI month is a celebration of the individuality and depth of AAPI people and provides a dedicated space and time for sharing experiences. This year's theme is "dream."
