The Georgia Tech Model UN (GTMUN) program hosted TechMUN this past weekend. This was the team’s first collegiate conference they’ve hosted.
GTMUN set itself apart from other conferences by being the first technology-based conference. They handled all resolutions, directives, and notes digitally using Slack, a collaboration app. "We wanted to use technology so that TechMUN would be one of the least logistically challenged and most environmentally friendly conferences," said Secretary-General Kirthi Karunakaran.
Though this was the first collegiate conference hosted by the GTMUN, they host an annual high school conference. Every year since 1998, GTMUN has hosted the GTMUN High School Conference, which is a two-day conference held during Georgia Tech’s fall break. This conference has grown to approximately 950 students attending from around the Southeast and beyond.
Every year the GT students attend competitions at universities such as Georgetown University, Duke University, Emory University as well as regional conferences.
