Georgia Tech Communications & Marketing is seeking entries for the second annual Gold Tower Awards, recognizing excellence in communications and marketing from various units across the Institute.
Entries from six major categories will be judged, including print communications, digital communications, written communications, marketing campaigns, events and leadership. Each category includes several subcategories.
With more than 90 entries from across campus, last year’s award recipients represented a cross-section of the Institute. In one case, the College of Architecture earned an award in the Special Events category for its centennial celebration: “Function Forming Fashion: One Hundred Years of Architecture at Georgia Tech.”
In accepting the award, College of Architecture Director of Communications Teri Nagel said, “Receiving the award was a ‘win’ for CoA in many ways, but especially for the collaborative recognition we received as a team. Just preparing our entry was a good reminder about the importance of asking the right questions at the onset of the project: for example, how our program ties into the mission of Georgia Tech, who exactly we’re trying to reach and what message we want to convey.”
Initiatives will once again be recognized on a fiscal year schedule. Entries from FY10 — July 1, 2009, to June 30, 2010 — must be submitted online by 5 p.m. on Friday, August 20 with accompanying materials due by Friday, August 27. Multiple entries are welcomed and encouraged.
Judging panels will be formed for the various categories and will be comprised of individuals from the campus communications community as well as local professionals. Winning entries will be announced during a November 11 reception hosted by Communications & Marketing.
