This performance draws on archival sources to bring back to life the nineteenth-century astronomical magic lantern show, providing a factual and aesthetic trip through the solar system. At the heart of the piece is a series of mechanical astronomical lantern slides from the 1840s. These slides, and their representation of astronomical phenomena, produced both knowledge and wonder with light, color, and motion.
