Five Georgia Tech students were recently selected as recipients for Chinese Government Full Scholarships for the 2018-2019 academic year. Georgia Tech was originally allocated three scholarships, but based on the strength of the applicant pool, two additional scholarships were awarded.
The Chinese Government Full Scholarship is the most prestigious scholarship awarded to American students by the Chinese government and is administered by the Chinese Embassy and Consulate Generals in the United States and the Ministry of Education in People’s Republic of China. This full-ride scholarship supports students studying in a Chinese university for one year and covers registration, tuition, dorm on campus, textbooks, monthly living allowance, and medical insurance. It is the goal of several recipients to work abroad following graduation. During their year abroad, these students plan to pursue study and research in their major fields, cultural immersion, and language proficiency in pursuit of that goal.
