Summary Sentence: Graduate Communication Certificate Workshop on Pitching Your Work to the Public

Full Summary: This 90-minute Graduate Communication workshop is for Georgia Tech graduate students who wish to complete part of their requirements for the GradComm Certificate program. One of our professional tutors from the Communication Center will conduct this workshop in Clough 447. For information on how to register, please visit: http://www.gradadmiss.gatech.edu/comm-cert-program

In this workshop, we will discuss the importance of being able to communicate your research to those outside of your field. Included in this workshop, you will learn how to develop an elevator pitch about your research, emphasizing how to clearly and briefly explain your research (and why it matters) to non-specialists. Your facilitator will offer examples of effective and ineffective statements; share techniques and tips for developing your pitch and communicating with non-specialists; and work with you on a draft of your own pitch. Please contact Peter Fontaine (peter.fontaine@lmc.gatech.edu) if you need more information. *This workshop is directed towards graduate students. Postdocs are welcome as walk-ins as space allows.
