When Rich Steele, Senior Director of Auxiliary Services, retired July 1, 2017, Campus Services and the Student Center wanted to recognize him for his 30+ years of service and his unwavering attention to helping create positive experiences for Georgia Tech students. So, they created the Rich Steele Campus Services Award.

 

This award recognizes a Georgia Tech staff member who has demonstrated a commitment to making the university experience a positive one for Georgia Tech students. The first award was given, appropriately, to Rich Steele, June 2017.

 

The nomination period for the 2018 award is open now through March 7.

Application Process Timeline

 

February 8 – Nomination forms available

March 7th- deadline Completed nomination forms

March 12th – March 23rd  -  review of nomination by Student Center Advisory Board

March 28th – April 6th – Let recipient know of nomination and award

Present at Up with the White and Gold

 

 

This award will be advertised at the same time as the Campus Life Scholarship

About the Award

The Award will annually recognize a Georgia Tech staff, faculty, or contract professional who has demonstrated a commitment to making the university experience a positive one for Georgia Tech students

The Student Center Advisory Board will select and administer each year’s award.

Any faculty, staff or student may submit a nomination.

Each year’s honoree will receive an individual award plus a perpetual plaque will be displayed in the Georgia Tech Student Center with nameplates denoting each year’s recipients.

This annual award will be presented at the Up with the White and Gold banquet

And the first year’s award goes to – Rich Steele

Who is eligible:
Any individual staff or faculty member or contract professional

Nominees for this award should have demonstrated:

Commitment to making the university experience a positive one for students.

Service to students that assists in cutting through campus bureaucratic red tape.

Commitment to the development of quality programs and/or activities that contribute to personal and academic development of the student and/or the university experience.

Demonstrated commitment to "being there" for students when they encounter personal or academic difficulties. Demonstrated recognition of our role as an institution of higher education and that our primary customers are the students.

Commitment to slogan, "Students 1st!"

Who may nominate:
Faculty, staff, administrators or students.

The Award will be presented at the Up with the White and Gold Award Ceremon by the Student Center President.
