Role of Lignin in Economically and Environmentally Sustainable Biorefineries

*********************************
There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. Functionally the new site is identical to the old one. webteam@gatech.edu

Dr. Scown’s Bio: Corinne is an expert in life-cycle assessment and she holds positions at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab and UC Berkeley, including the Joint BioEnergy Institute and Energy Biosciences Institute.  She has focused on bioenergy over the last ten years, including advanced pathways to bio-based fuels and chemicals, as well as anaerobic digestion for the processing of heterogeneous organic waste. Corinne earned a Ph.D. from UC Berkeley in Civil & Environmental Engineering in 2010 with a focus on the water footprint of producing a wide range of transportation fuels, including gasoline, biofuels, and electricity. She has also conducted research on the Economic Input-Output Life Cycle Assessment (EIO-LCA) tool at Carnegie Mellon.  She has continued to do work on biofuels and vehicle electrification, expanding into advanced drop-in fuel production pathways, lignin utilization strategies, and nation-wide scale-up scenarios for both biofuels and plug-in electric vehicles.

Lunch will be provided to all attendees
