No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. The “Comics and Civic Engagement” exhibit will feature student created research-based comics designed to raise awareness about issues related to urban development, particularly in underserved areas like Atlanta’s West Side (just 1.5 miles from campus). Comics topics, developed through analyzing comics about the city and listening to guest speakers from community organizations in Eng 1102, might include the housing crisis, ecodistricts, school closings, transportation issues, and gentrification, as well as topics related to West Side historical landmarks and arts revitalization efforts in the area. This event is the opening of the exhibit (located on the 3rd floor of Clough), where students will be available to answer questions and talk about their comics with those who attend.
