Paul Kohn will join Georgia Tech as vice provost of Enrollment Services on August 16. Kohn replaces former Associate Vice Provost Deborah Smith, who retired in May.

“We were fortunate to have excellent finalists for the position,” said Anderson Smith, senior vice provost for Academic Affairs. “Paul Kohn had a similar post at the University of Arizona and is experienced with all of the roles the vice provost for Enrollment Services handles here at Tech. We are fortunate to lure him away from Arizona.”

Kohn was previously associate vice president for Student Affairs and dean of Admissions at the University of Arizona, where he has worked since 1989. In that role, he oversaw admissions, financial aid, enrollment marketing and the registrar’s office.

“The opportunity to serve in the capacity of VP for Enrollment Services at an institution of Georgia Tech’s esteem was simply too compelling to forego,” said Kohn. “While Deborah Smith has left behind some very large shoes to fill, I am excited to undertake the challenge of furthering geographic, ethnic and economic diversity among Georgia Tech’s student body. I look forward to working with the Enrollment Services team at Tech to further develop innovative and effective strategies for recruiting and retaining the future alumni of Georgia Tech. From what I have learned so far, the students, alumni, staff, faculty and other supporters reveal an enthusiasm and energy that I am eager to become a part of.”

Kohn holds a PhD in educational psychology from the University of Arizona, a master’s in educational administration from Cornell University and a bachelor’s in animal sciences from Cornell.

Enrollment Services includes Undergraduate Admission, Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid, BuzzPort, Office of Technology Services for Enrollment Services, Office of Special Scholarships and the Office of the Registrar, with an indirect reporting line to Graduate Studies and Admissions.
