As the campus community prepares to depart for winter break, not all will face arduous travels or long holiday road trips.
Georgia Tech will be closed Dec. 25–29, as well as on Jan. 1. For those who stay in the area during the break, Atlanta offers many festive ways to enjoy an extra dose of down time.
Student-athletes don't get as much time off from their sports as they do classes. Support the Yellow Jackets on campus during the break:
Student Holiday Dinner: GTPD, Housing, SGA, and Auxiliary Services will host an event for students who are still on campus Friday, Dec. 22, at 5 p.m. in the Student Center Ballroom. Learn more and RSVP on Orgsync.
Alliance Theatre’s A Christmas Carol: Celebrate the holidays with the Dickens classic in this Broadway-scale production. The Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center will host the production from Dec. 8–24. Purchase tickets here.
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: The Center for Puppetry Arts features this holiday classic through Dec. 31. Tickets include a puppet-making workshop.
Ice Skating: Enjoy ice skating at Atlantic Station, Centennial Olympic Park, or Park Tavern.
Festival of the SEAson: The Georgia Aquarium will celebrate the holiday season with special events through Jan. 1.
Six Flags Holiday in the Park: For those who love roller coasters, the rides are even more fun amid lights and holiday décor.
Christmas at Callanwolde: The Callanwolde Fine Arts Center transforms the grounds of its historic estate into an array of lights.
