We are pleased to announce that on the afternoon of Monday, November 20, Representative John Lewis visited with Dr. Bethany Jacobs ENGL 1102 students in the Writing and Communication Program. Dr. Jacobs’ course, African American Rhetorics of Resistance, examines the history of African American activism in literature, music, and art. Students in the course began the semester by reading Rep. Lewis’ graphic novel March: Book 1, an exploration of his early life and participation in the Civil Rights Movement. In a private visit, Rep. Lewis fielded questions from students about his graphic novel and his life as an activist and politician. This was an unprecedented opportunity for Georgia Tech students to meet a living legend.
