Dr. Helena Mitchell, Executive Director of the Center for Advanced Communications Policy (CACP), recently had her appointment as a Regents’ Researcher renewed.

This news followed a banner year for the CACP in Georgia Tech’s School of Public Policy, which recently released its annual report for the period July 1, 2016 – June 30, 2017.

Mitchell noted that the major achievement by CACP this past year was submitting and receiving a five-year $4.625 million grant from the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR) for 2016-2021 to establish the Rehabilitation Engineering Research Center for Wireless Inclusive Technologies. CACP received the highest score awarded to an RERC in the past 16 years.

CACP also reported more than 26 publishing activities, 25 major engagements and conference presentations, active participation on 27 academic and service activities, five student assistantships or advisory roles by faculty of CACP, and 50 memberships on boards/committees or national recognition. Sponsored research was funded at $2,241,431. CACP staff/faculty participated in more than 550 meetings with external/internal organizations and/or their representatives.
