How to Nail an Interview 401 and Negotiating Your Starting Salary
Monday, October 16
7:00 - 9:00 PM
Stephen C. Hall Building, Room 102
After spending years acquiring skills and experiences, most people do a miserable job of marketing themselves because they lack practical, realistic, executable training. Colonel (Ret) Steve Hall (IM 67) has interviewed hundreds of Tech students, captured good experiences and bad, and created “How to Nail an Interview 401” as a result. The lecture is heavily focused on skills and techniques to use to prepare for those crucial minutes when everything is on the line.
And once you’ve nailed the interview, how do you negotiate your starting salary? The mystery-shrouded process of negotiation leaves people almost entirely to the tender mercies of the battle-hardened recruiters with whom they must deal. But it need not be so. The second half of this lecture, “Negotiating Your Starting Salary,” arms you with the knowledge and skills to demystify this process.

He is a 1967 Industrial Management graduate of Georgia Tech and he served 26 years in the United States Air Force. Col. Hall is very active with his alma mater, sitting as a board member of the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts, supporting scholarship and award programs, and acting as professional liaison between CS-W and the Institute.
