The Biotechnology Policy Forum Committee would like to announce its upcoming seminar on United States-China Relations and Foreign Policy titled "The Rise of China and the Sino-American Relations." FOOD will be served.

The speaker is Fei-Ling Wang (Ph.D., University of Pennsylvania), Professor of the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs, Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, USA (email: fw@gatech.edu). He taught at the U.S.
Military Academy (West Point), guest-lectured at 15 other universities in several countries, and held visiting and adjunct positions in five universities in four countries, in Yonsei University in Korea and the University of Tokyo in Japan. Wang's most recent books are Organizing through Division and Exclusion: China's Hukou System (Stanford University Press, 2005) and China Rising: Power and Motivation in Chinese Foreign Policy (co-editor, Rowman & Littlefield, 2005). His dozens of articles have appeared in journals and newspapers such as The China Quarterly, Christian Science Monitor, Harvard International Review, International Herald Tribune, Pacific Affairs and The Washington Quarterly as well as Aspenia (Italy), Diplomatie (France), Global Times and Strategy and Management (China). He has had numerous research grants and appeared in some of the world's major news media.

The talk examines the epic achievements and the profound implications of the China's economic development. After outlining the main potentials and major problems that may make or break China's ascent, there will be a discussion
about the prospects of the Chinese rise and the leading options available to the U.S. in reaction to the resurgent China.
