Foreverfamily is a nonprofit organization that workds with children of incarcerated parents. They are currently looking for students to volunteer in a variety of roles in their Family Visitation Program, conducted on the second saturday of each month. The goal of Family Visitation is to provide children with the opportunity to visit their mothers on a consistent basis, thereby strengthening family bonds. They currently attend three prisons: Arrendale, Emmanuel, and Pulaski.

Students are needed to perform one (or more) of the following roles:

  1. Trip Prep Volunteers: Volunteers will assist the staff, in the weeks prior to the prison visits. This will include gathering activities and items for the children's shoebox lunches. (Time commitment: 2-4 hours)
  2. Morning Volunteers: Volunteers will assist the staff, the morning of, in preparation for the prison visits. This will include arriving at 5:00am to set up breakfast for the children before visitation, assisting with the Traveler’s Club (passing out trip supplies such as kindles, pillows, and blankets), and interacting with the kids to ensure they are comfortable prior to departure. (Time commitment: 3-4 hours)
  3. Prison Trip Volunteers: Volunteers will assist the staff on prison trips. Volunteers will chaperone the children during the prison visits. (Time commitment: 13 hours)
  4. Administrative Volunteers: Volunteers will assist staff at the program site. Tasks will include processing requests for information/volunteer applications/other documents, developing volunteer opportunities and matching individuals with volunteer assignments, supporting our receptionist by answering telephones, filing, or light typing, and sending thank you cards to our volunteers/donors. (Time commitment: 2-6 hours)
