  • "The Colors of Money Part II – Who Decides?"
  • Lisa Godfrey and Jim Kirk
  • October 3, 2017 from 11a.m. - noon
  • Bill Moore Student Success Center, President's Suite B

This is a follow-up to last year’s mini-course on Georgia Tech’s “Colors of Money.” Following an update of Georgia Tech’s fiscal 2018 budget, participants will look “behind the curtain” of how funding distributions from various sources are determined. A special focus will be placed on the flexible funding in Georgia Tech’s “General Fund,” which includes revenue from state, tuition, indirect cost recoveries, and various student and other fee sources. During this presentation, Godfrey and Kirk will explain the roles that Georgia Tech and the Board of Regents (BOR) play in determining tuition and fee levels. Also, the presenters will address how state funding for employee merit increases and student enrollment increases is determined, beginning with the BOR’s request to the Governor on behalf of the University System of Georgia, and financial challenges faced by Georgia Tech this year and future years.
