There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. A new study on the efficacy of Reddit's banning of a handful of its most hateful and deplorable subreddits shows positive results. The paper, titled You Can't Stay Here: The Efficacy of Reddit's 2015 Ban Examined Through Hate Speech, was written by Eshwar Chandrasekharan, Umashanthi Pavalanathan, Anirudh Srinivasan, and Jacob Eisenstein from Georgia Tech, Adam Glynn from Emory University, and Eric Gilbert, current faculty member at the University of Michigan and formerly of Georgia Tech.
