The World University Rankings released Sept. 5 by The Times Higher Education show the Georgia Institute of Technology continues to rank number 33, matching its highest position and highest among the state of Georgia’s academic institutions.

The World University Rankings 2018 list the best global universities and are the only international university performance tables to judge world-class universities across all of their core missions – teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and international outlook.

The prestigious rankings use 13 performance indicators to provide the most comprehensive and balanced comparisons available. This year's ranking includes 1,000 universities, an increase of 200 from last year’s rankings.

This year's list of the best universities in the world features 147 of the top universities in the U.S. with 62 American universities making the top 200 of the list, led by number three overall, the California Institute of Technology.

The list of the best global universities includes many performance indicators to help families to choose where to study, including faculty-student ratios, the university’s global reputation, its total resources, the international mix on campus, and its links to business.

Now in its 14th year, the World University Rankings employ data and a methodology that are subject to an independent audit by PricewaterhouseCoopers.
