The father of the Atlanta Beltline is looking for ideas to write the "next chapter" for Buford Highway. Buford Highway will represent the focus of the first project by Ryan Gravel's new urban planning nonprofit, Generator, according to Gravel's recent interview with Reporter Newspapers … Gravel's thesis at Georgia Tech evolved into the renowned BeltLine. Gravel resigned from the board of the Atlanta Beltline Partnership in 2016, saying not enough emphasis was being placed on equity and affordability … His first Generator workshop is a School of Design class at Georgia Tech that begins Aug. 22 and will focus on Buford Highway, the corridor that runs through Brookhaven, Chamblee and Doraville. It is home to more than 1,000 immigrant-owned businesses and known regionally for its ethnic and cultural diversity and numerous restaurants.
