There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. Dr. J. Scott Long, Chancellor's Professor of Sociology & Statistics, as well as the Associate Vice Provost for Research of Indiana University will deliver the 2007 - 2008 WST Distinguished Lecture entitled "From Scarcity to Visibility: The changing presence and participation of women in science."

Biography: Dr. J. Scott Long, Chancellor's Professor of Sociology and Statistics and Associate Vice Provost for Research, Indiana University, is the author of foundational research on gender and scientific careers, and on methods of data analyses. His numerous articles and books include From Scarcity to Visibility: Gender Differences in the Careers of Doctoral Scientists and Engineers, published by the National Academy Press.
