Full Summary: We invite you to join us for this public talk by Dr. John Mendoza-Garcia, finalist for the position of Service Learning & Partnerships Specialist in the Center for Serve-Learn-Sustain. Dr. John Mendoza-Garcia is currently a Postdoctoral researcher in the School of Engineering Education at Purdue University. He received his Ph.D. in Engineering Education at Purdue University, and he has a Master's and a Bachelor's in Systems and Computing Engineering from Universidad de los Andes, in Colombia, and Universidad Nacional de Colombia respectively. He has 10 years of experience teaching undergraduate engineering students in Colombia and the U.S. in Purdue's Engineering Projects in Community Service - EPICS program and the First Year Engineering Program. Before coming to Purdue, he was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Systems Engineering at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, in Bogota, Colombia. In this role, he served as the coordinator of the Social and Professional Internship Program and the Coordinator of the Capstone Design projects. Dr. Mendoza-Garcia's research interests include investigating how to nurture in engineering/computing students the different skills that are required for being effective at addressing the complexity of real-world problems, such as those they will find in professional practice and society.
