​​​​​In its 8th year, the ITA Tech Challenge is a programming and coding skills competition for current university students in the US. Students compete for the chance to make it to the Top 50 and be invited to Chicago for the Final Challenge, interview with top technology companies and a chance to win $5,000!

The ITA Tech Challenge has two phases:

​Phase 1: Qualifying Challenge (September 4th - October 6th)
Starting in September, qualifying Challenges are held on the campuses of participating universities. This initial event lasts approximately three hours and includes an online coding assessment and a presentation from an Illinois-based technology company! Food and beverage is provided.

  • ​In addition to on-site Challenges, the qualifying Challenge is also shared virtually the week of October 2nd with students who are unable to make it to the on-site event or who’s university isn’t participating on-site.

Phase 2: The Final Challenge (October 27th and 28th)
After all qualifying Challenges are taken, the overall Top 50 scorers are invited to Chicago for the Final Challenge and interviews with area technology companies looking to hire interns or entry-level talent. ITA covers the cost of hotel and provides meals for the Top 50 during their time in Chicago.

​In addition to interviews, the Final Challenge offers cash prizes. The #1 scorer and Ultimate College Coder receives $5,000!

​Additional Prizes:

  • 2nd: $2,000

  • 3rd through 5th: $1,000

  • 6th through 10th: $500
