On June 13, Regents' Professor Seymour Goodman spoke at City Hall on Atlanta's trials and resilience during and immediately after the Civil War. The presentation was hosted by the Mayor's Office for Resilience. Goodman is on faculty in the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs.

Atlanta was selected to participate in a global program as one of “100 Resilient Cities.” This program is dedicated to helping cities around the world become more resilient to the physical, social and economic challenges that are a growing part of the 21st century. The program is sponsored by the Rockefeller Foundation.  

Goodman’s secondary research includes the impact of science and technology on the American Civil War, World War II, and the Cold War and teaches courses on these topics. He is Regents Professor and Professor of International Affairs and Computing, and a National Affiliate of the National Research Council of the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine.
