GT Computing Faculty Invited to Celebrate Half a Century of Computing's Highest Honor

A group of Georgia Tech faculty were invited to attend the Association for Computing Machinery's Celebration of 50 years of the A.M. Turing Award on June 23-24 in San Francisco, California.

Those attending included School of Computer Science Chair Lance Fortnow, School of Interactive Computing faculty members Lauren Wilcox, Neha Kumar, Beth Mynatt, and Blair MacIntyre, as well as alumni Andrew Miller (Ph.D. HCC 2014) and Lana Yarosh (Ph.D. HCC 2012).

As part of the event, McIntyre chaired a panel titled Augmented Reality: From Gaming to Cognitive Aids and Beyond. The panel included Yvonne Rogers, Peter Lee, and Turing laureates Ivan Sutherland and Frederick P. Brooks, Jr.

Wilcox and Kumar, as recent inductees into the inaugural Future of Computing Academy, also met with other inductees on June 26.
