Economics and International Affairs senior John Akin has been awarded a prestigious Fulbright US Student Grant. The grant affords Akin an English Teaching Assistantship. He'll be partnered with a high school in Indonesia to teach students in rural areas.
From Fayette County, Georgia, Akin is minoring in Law, Science & Technology, and scheduled to graduate summa cum laude in May. He will leave for Jakarta, Indonesia at the end of August. His project will span nine months after which he will attend the Virginia School of Law.
Akin holds leadership roles within the School of Economics and the Ivan Allen College. He recently won a President's Undergraduate Research Award.
