Abstract:  The Institute for Transportation Research and Education (ITRE) at NC State University has developed methodologies for the analysis of freeway facilities for the upcoming 6th edition of the Highway Capacity Manual (HCM). This webinar will cover the freeway facility methodology in th e upcoming HCM as well as a new dynamic software tool for assessing the value of Active Traffic Management (ATM) strategies. This tool was developed jointly by ITRE and FIU with funding from the STRIDE Center.The underlying traffic model in the tool is FREEVAL, which is a faithful representation of the latest HCM. The FREEVAL version covered is called FREEVAL-DSS for Dynamic Strategy Selection. The software tool is coded in Java, and thus can run on any PC or Mac device.
