There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. On Monday April 24th from 4.00 - 5.30 PM the graduate students in HTS 6124, Science and Technology Across Borders, will present the results of "The Afghan Project" that they have have been working on collectively. Three main topics are covered:
1. From Optimism to Opium: US Modernization Projects in the Helmand Valley
(Leslie Bennett, Ling Ming Huang, James Surgeon)
2. Competing Modernities? US and Soviet Development Projects in Afghanistan
(Sergey Kolesnikov)
3. Embedding Anthropologists in the US Military's Human Terrain System in Iraq and Afghanistan : Ethical and Political Issues
(Garrett Bunyak, Amanda Domingues)
The results will be presented using powerpoint and videos. All are welcome to attend.
