Frank StallardDr. Frank W. Stallard, a retired associate professor in mathematics, died peacefully in his sleep on November 21, 2011. After one year as an instructor at University of Iowa in Ames, he and his wife, Mary, moved to Atlanta in 1955 so he could work as mathematics professor at Georgia Tech, a position he held for almost 30 years until his retirement. He came to Georgia Tech in 1956 as an assistant professor and was promoted to associate professor in 1959. His research interests were in ordinary differential equations. He served as the advisor for several master's degree students, as well as doctoral students Robert H. Martin, Jr. and Laddie Rollins. Frank retired in 1983.
Frank was a devoted husband and father who attended every ball game, band concert and Cub Scout adventure his three sons could throw at him. He loved to paint and work in his garden and he loved to share roses and plants with friends and family. He also loved his church, Embry Hills United Methodist where he was active in the Men's club and several administrative positions. Frank had a wonderful sense of humor and always loved to share jokes with his friends and family. He was a friend to many, his students at Georgia Tech, the fellow math faculty that he worked with and his many personal and church friends.
