MSNBC's story about Aaron Levin's study on the relation between colleges attended by egg donors and fees paid to them, reported on the ethical position of this practice. It said, that although the American Society for Reproductive Medicine guidelines say that "amounts over $10,000 are not appropriate", "Parents with infertility problems are willing to pay up to $50,000 for a human egg they hope will produce a smart, attractive child".
