Full Summary: "Under the Georgia Sun"

Mr. Norrie McKenzie, Georgia Power Company’s Vice President of Renewable Development, will discuss Georgia Power’s renewable generation resources and its plans through 2020. The presentation will include the economics of utility scale renewable generation versus distributed generation, the legacy of residential electrical rate making, the renewable options Georgia Power offers its customers, and the things a customer should consider when making a renewable decision.

Norrie joined Southern Company in 1999 to lead the company’s natural gas procurement for its growing gas-fired generation fleet. He was selected as Vice President of renewable development in August 2013. A native of Fort Valley, Georgia, Norrie earned his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

The Ray C. Anderson Center for Sustainable Business was founded in 2013 to act as a catalyst and connector, bringing together students, research faculty, companies, and entrepreneurs to create an environment where business-driven solutions to sustainability challenges can take shape and thrive. In all, Scheller provides students unparalleled breadth in environmental sustainability, ethics, corporate social responsibility, social entrepreneurship, and values-based leadership.
