Mathematics student, Jie Ma, won a student paper competition at the 33nd Annual SIAM Southeastern-Atlantic Section Conference (SIAM-SEAS 2009) held at the University of South Carolina on April 4-5, 2009. Jie was recognized for his presentation titled "Judicious mixed partitions of graphs," based on joint work with Pei-Lan Yen and faculty advisor Xingxing Yu. This work presented in the paper "On several partition problems of Bollobas and Scott" has been accepted for publication in J. Combin. Theory Ser. B.
