Kei Koizumi, Visiting Scholar at the American Association for the Advancement of Science, will talk about science and technology for policy, stressing the importance of scientific and technological advice in policymaking, with real examples and lessons learned at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) and thoughts on what a solid science-advice organization should look like. He will also discuss policy for science and technology and innovation, explaining the importance of a central organization at the highest level of government to formulate, implement, and coordinate STI policy, with real examples and lessons learned and some thoughts on what an effective policy organization should look like. The importance of developing and using all the policy tools at one's disposal will be discussed, as well as reflection on the importance of having a policy toolkit and knowing the tools that one can and cannot use to solve problems. 

The talk will be held on March 30, 2017 at 3 pm on Georgia Tech's campus in the Hall Building, Room 102.
