There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. Functionally the new site is identical to the old one. webteam@gatech.edu

Atlanta, GA | Posted: March 28, 2017
Atlanta suffered a steep descent during the Civil War and ended it in worse state than any other American city in the history of the United States. Yet, Atlanta emerged like a Phoenix from the ashes of war largely due to the people who lived here. Rich and poor, black and white, those born free and those newly free, male and female, Christian and Jew - the entire fabric of this fascinating southern city – rose up and redefined the "Atlanta Spirit." Join us for a symposium that will look to provide a deeply enriched understanding of this "Atlanta Spirit" and insight into the city's postwar miracle.
