The inimitable Psoy Korolenko will present his rap-poetic soundtrack to the Russian silent film "Bed and Sofa" (Tret'ia meshchanskaia, 1927).
Psoi Korolenko is an eccentric performer working on the fringe on the contemporary bard and art song movements in Russia.
"Bed and Sofa," directed by Abram Room, is a minor masterpiece depicting changing family relations through the fate of a cohabiting threesome in the 1920s.
The performance will be in Russian (primarily -- Psoi often sings in a mix of languages, including Yiddish, French and English). Translations of portions will be available as hand-outs.
Admission is free.
DVD+CD of Psoy & Alyona Alyonkova's new project 'РУССКОЕ БОГАТСТВО' will be available for puchase.
The event is sponsored by the Schools of Modern Languages and Literature, Communication, and Culture at Georgia Tech.
