Company seeking drivers to use accident-notification app

There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. Pittsburgh Post-Gazette talks about howAgero Inc., a Medford, Mass., company, wants drivers to voluntarily share information about where they drive by downloading a free app called MileUp on their iPhone or Android devices. Peter Swire, a privacy expert and Huang Professor of Law and Ethics in the Scheller College of Business at the Georgia Institute of Technology, said motorists shouldn’t be concerned about giving information about their location to an organization such as Agero. He’s more concerned about how that information might be used by insurers.
