Seminar Title: Intellectual Property 101

Abstract:
An introduction to the concepts and uses of Intellectual Property (IP) in the business enterprise.  How do inventors & authors protect their creative work products?  How can they make money off what would otherwise be intangible concepts or creations?  This seminar will provide basic answers to these questions and help you understand how IP helps modern academic & business ventures.

Speaker Bio:
Colin Wright graduated Georgia Tech in 1994 with his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. While on campus, Colin worked as a resident advisor and a lab assistant while also serving in leadership roles in several student organizations, including FASET, Student Government, and Student Foundation.  He went on to his first career in software engineering with technology enterprises in California and Georgia before graduating law school from the University of Georgia in 2004. For 10 years, Colin worked as an Intellectual Property attorney, initially for boutique IP law firms, and then as an in-house attorney for Citrix Systems in Fort Lauderdale, and McKesson in Alpharetta. For the last three years, he has worked in Technology Standards, Certifications and Regulatory Affairs, leading a team of 12 compliance and regulatory specialists in McKesson’s health IT division.
