Georgia Tech is engaged in various forms of global outreach, whether it is for education, research, innovation, commercialization, alumni engagement, and philanthropy. The speakers will review how we decide whether to embark on a new initiative, what are the pitfalls and the ingredients for success. Professor Bernard Kippelen will share his experience in establishing an open innovation platform in France, Institut Lafayette, and Amy Henry will shed light on how the Office of International Education helps students, faculty, and visiting scholars successfully engage in global activities.

Yves Berthelot is Vice Provost for International Initiatives and Steve A. Denning Chair in Global Engagement, overseeing Georgia Tech’s international activities. He joined the Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering in 1985 and became President of Georgia Tech – Lorraine in 2006. He also serves as President of GT-Global, the nonprofit entity that oversees some of Georgia Tech’s international activities, such as GT-Panama and GT-Costa Rica.

Amy Bass Henry is the Executive Director of the Office of International Education. She joined the Tech staff in 1995 as the campus' first Study Abroad Coordinator.
