The Arete Project is now inviting applications from young women seeking an immersive, intensive summer learning opportunity.
The Blue Ridge Session is an eight-week summer program for college-aged women based on three educational pillars: interdisciplinary academics designed to enrich students' lives and thought; physical labor performed in service of the community; and student self-governance over the student body and the organization itself. The seminar will ask students to engage intensively with their environment and their peers. All students will participate together in the daily academic seminar, labor for 20 hours a week on the farm and campus, and work collaboratively to decide regulations, policies, and norms for the student body and the Arete Project itself. Their mission is education towards its highest ends: the cultivation of wisdom, the living of a good life in thought and action, and selfless devotion to world and humanity.
The 2017 program will run from June 18th to August 12th on their summer campus north of Asheville, North Carolina. Tuition for the entire summer is only $500, and full and half scholarships are available for students with financial need. College credit may be available for the academic component of the program.
Applications are due by January 15th.
