Melanie Thomas, travel, immunization and allergy nurse from Stamps Health Services was selected as the campus services December employee of the month. Melanie has been with Georgia Tech as a nurse for seven years but came to Tech long before then. Thomas has a bachelor’s of science in management from Georgia Tech. She was a first generation college student who after a full career as a revenue analyst for AT&T/Southern Bell/Bell South decided to go back to school to become a nurse.
Stamps Health Services Director, Dr. Gregory Moore said, “There are few employees who take such a personal and professional interest in our students. She is adored by her patients and goes the extra mile to make sure all students have everything they need. Thomas enjoys working with all students, especially those with different cultural or economic backgrounds. She volunteers with many Tech activities including: Sting Break, Earth Day and Klemis Kitchen. One of Thomas’ most notable Tech memories was volunteering as a field marshal during the ’96 Olympics. “Many people have a phobia of immunizations. I try to volunteer in areas where students can see us in a nonthreatening environment, said Thomas.”
Congratulations Melanie Thomas and thank you for your tremendous contribution to Georgia Tech!
